Position
Summary:
Under the direction of Assistant Chief Nursing Officer of Professional Practice, is responsible for planning, organizing and directing of the operations and staff of the Professional Practice (Clinical Nurse Specialists, Education, nursing quality and regulatory readiness, Shared Governance Journey to Magnet, Staffing and Patient Placement Offices, the clinical secretarial pool, and data management functions.
Point-of-Service resource management includes the RRAT/SWAT Team and the internal Float Pools).
In conjunction with the other Clinical Directors, ACNO's, and the CNO upholds the standards of nursing practice and implements cost effective programs to ensure that the highest level of safety and quality patient care is being delivered.
The Clinical Director actively engage and partner with stakeholders to support Shared Leadership and to resolve issues and meet the professional needs of those who participate in assigned division, units, programs, and services within their respective scope.
Job RequirementEducation/
Experience:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare related field.
A Master's Degree in a healthcare related field or the ability to successfully complete postgraduate degree within three (3) years from date of hire.
Five (5) years of recent clinical experience in the areas of responsibility and three (3) years of experience in a clinical supervisory role.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Current State of Nevada License as to Practice as a Registered Nurse.
Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) Previous experience as a DPP in an academic or large community hospital 300-beds or higher.
Has successfully led an organization to P2E and Magnet.
Has led or directly managed a designated PTAP program.
Must demonstrate the following:

Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Able to keep track of multiple deadlines and keep multiple priorities on track successfully.
Must have successful leadership experience where other leaders have reported to this individual.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements Knowledge of:
Global and regulatory and compliance standards specific to area of responsibility; labor relations; Nevada Nurse Practice Act and Nevada statutes affecting the hospital as a public and healthcare entity; Shared Leadership; Magnet designation; models of nursing practice and care delivery; current trends in healthcare, financial modeling especially productivity and healthcare reimbursement in a managed care environment; principles and practices of personnel management, including planning and organizing work, delegating authority, motivating subordinates, appraising performance and administering discipline; principles and practices of nursing that optimize patient care; principles of nursing administration and organization; patient care standards mandated by regulatory agencies; change management and organizational development; advanced leadership skills, managerial acumen; developing, and partnering with diverse stakeholders in a complex hospital system environment.
Skill in:
Planning, organizing, developing and directing nursing and related services for a large acute care hospital; directing the developing and implementing of effective policies and procedures; understanding, interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations and policies related to nursing and hospital administration; leading, managing, delegating, and communicating; operating Microsoft Office tools; serving as a role model in a professional manner and accountability; managing, interpreting, and communicating effectively with data; speaking effectively to a variety of audiences, making formal and informal presentations and effectively message key concepts and strategic priorities to others in a credible manner.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, including stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, and strength to examine and treat varied patients, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone.
Strength and agility to exert up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
