The Comptroller's Office is the central coordinating financial agency of the County, responsible for both external and internal financial reporting as well as the processing and maintenance of all official accounting records.
Duties will include processing and validating employee data in accordance with labor contracts, letters of agreement, applicable laws and/or policies and procedures; communicating with employees and upper level management regarding policies and procedures, and reviewing analyzing large sets of data for irregularities or errors.
This recruitment may be used to fill multiple positions in the department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and
Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school AND four (4) years of full-time accounting or financial office clerical experience.
Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the Education and Work Experience sections of the application.

Licensing and Certification:

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Responsible for completion of all employee actions in accordance with federal, state and local laws and in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and County policies.
This includes but not limited to onboarding of new hires, processing all status changes, merit increases, specialty pays, and adjustments to leave balances for current employees.
Monitors changes in employment records and verifies and coordinates various pay adjustments.
Audits all entry in the payroll system to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Ensures compliance with various federal laws with regards to I-9 and W-4 completion.
Provides input and assist with testing and/or coordinating testing of system updates and system implementations.
Research and respond to inquiries regarding employee pay.
Administers and maintains County catastrophic leave bank and other programs.
Coordinates with department liaisons, department leadership, Human Resources, Timekeeping, and Payroll personnel in the performance and completion of daily workload.
Enters and retrieves data from a computer system and produces reports; operates standard office equipment.
Uses a computer to develop and manage databases and/or spreadsheet files and to develop special report formats.
Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
Performs a variety of general office support work such as organizing and maintaining various files, typing correspondence, reports, forms, and specialized documents, and proofreading and checking materials for accuracy, completeness and compliance with departmental policies and regulations.
Works with strict, recurring deadlines.
References multiple applicable laws and contracts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
