It is the primary responsibility of the successful candidate to support the Director of Construction Accounting with the operational activities and staff of the MGM Springfield Construction Accounting Department. This position requires extensive knowledge of all facets of construction accounting with a strong emphasis on financial reporting and costing. Knowledge of project controls and procedures, the construction billing process and audit are preferred. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Manage, revise, and maintain the status of the detailed project cost estimate/forecast.
Analyze cost information for completeness and comparison to the original projections used to support the approved construction budget for each designated construction division. Provide insight to Director regarding any discrepancies or anomalies
Recommend process improvements to obtain more accurate information from personnel within the organization
Interact with other project groups in relation to cost codes, commitments, change orders etc.
Prepare and publish timely financial reports.
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting; make recommendations for changes/improvements to the Director
Maintain internal controls, review, and update/improve policies and procedures to align and ensure compliance with company and jurisdictional policies and regulations
Respond to queries from internal and external auditors
Support Director of Construction Accounting and other leaders as required in terms of project management and operational activities
Other special projects as assigned by senior management.

EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
Required:
At least ten (10) years in construction accounting, construction management or a related field or equivalent combination of work experience and education
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Previous experience working in a project-based organization, preferably in a construction or development setting.
Previous experience with Timberline accounting system with emphasis on the Job Cost and Project Management modules.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Ability to obtain a Mass Gaming Employee registration
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States

Microsoft Office Suite - especially Excel, Outlook and Word.
Train and mentor department staff
Prioritize tasks to be completed

Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
