The Buyer position is responsible for providing tactical support on assigned spend categories, as well as for performing off-program purchasing activities within specific spend categories. This role will interact regularly with members of the Purchasing and Program Management functions, Strategic Sourcing key stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure the efficient purchase of off-program supplies and services. Buyers must demonstrate a strong understanding for the assigned spend categories, supplier landscape and purchase order management. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices and procedures. Success can be measured by the ability of the Buyer to minimize disruptions to the day-to-day operations of customers, flagging non-compliance and/or leveraging data analytics to identify growing spend categories to Strategic Sourcing. A key responsibility of this role will be to maintain relationships with MGM properties.
Execute tactical support for on-and off-program spend to ensure business needs are met with a high-level of customer responsiveness.
Implementation of off-program saving opportunities per the off-program purchasing plan.
Ensure off-program purchases do not happen for on-program products; prescribe corrective action when appropriate.
Demonstrate a proficient understanding of managed programs to contain the percentage of spend on PO & limit the amount of off-program spend.
Minimize procurement related business disruptions to end-customers.
Meet established expectations of captured Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) such as PR to PO conversion time, PO percentage beyond due date and PO to Invoice variance accuracy.
Process off-program purchase requisitions, short-term supplier selection, negotiations and contracting and ensure accuracy and completeness (e.g., conduct bid process, enter order, expedite order, etc.).
Identify supplier options including a certified diversity entity where applicable.
Ensure quality service, and best available price on goods and services in an ethical manner without compromising quality.
Work with requesting departments to assist in specification development, which may include shared research responsibilities or sampling requests and tracking.
Award authorized purchase order and confirm vendor receipt/acceptance.
Flag non-compliant spend requests per policy guidelines.
Monitor supplier performance by troubleshooting and resolving issues; ensure vendor deliveries are on-time.
Develop and grow new relationships with non-strategic suppliers; interface on quality, service and delivery issues as well as ongoing continuous improvement opportunities.
Support filing system and methods of documentation of purchasing activity to enable and satisfy an audit/inspection or industry regulating standards.
Leverage understanding of the customer, industry, key business drivers and managed spend programs to make informed decisions when selecting suppliers, products and services off-program.
Participate in continuous training required to keep team apprised of business situations as they affect Procurement policy.
Perform other job-related activities as requested.
Required:
At least 2 years of experience in a supply chain management role, e.g. purchasing, sourcing.
Ability to understand and perform in all aspects of supply chain management.
Excellent customer services skills.
Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree.
Experience conducting bid processes (RFI, RFP and informal bids) and negotiating short-term supplier agreements.
Systems experience with Stratton Warren, Infinium, Coupa.
Working knowledge of hospitality and/or casino operations.
Previous experience working in a similar resort setting

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
