This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-06. At the GS-05 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-06. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds. Duties include but are not limited to:
Handles conflicts and problems dealing with customers constructively and appropriately; Establishes and maintain effective work relationships with others in providing and/or obtaining information; Provides customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures; Prepares a wide variety of written products such as reports, memoranda, letters, etc.; Confirms the fulfillment of regulatory requirements associated with depository functions; Examines collections for negotiability, utilizes an automated system, to record transactions; Accounts for any loss or shortage in funds to the Treasury Department; Complies with procedures and instructions contained in the Department of Treasury Manual of Procedures and Instructions for Cashiers; Performs cash processing functions for the Cash Management Division; Receives and/or disburses cash in accordance with the corresponding laws, rules, and regulations; Processes cash-link deposits and e-payments in a timely manner; Reconciles cash accountability and reviews vouchers for completeness, accuracy, and propriety before making payment, referring questionable vouchers for audit prior to disbursement; Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specific qualifying specialized experience for this position (which should be documented on your resume) is:
experience utilizing 10-key and keyboarding skills while working in a financial/accounting or healthcare-related environment, and cash handling experience. -OR- EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION:
Successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation (or the equivalent) is the normal prerequisite? NOTE TO APPLICANTS:
One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Possess equivalent combinations of experience and education as described above to fully meet the requirements of this position. For GS-5 level positions, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to l year of specialized experience. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
