As a Drill Rig Operator within the Research Drilling Program, some of your specific duties will include:
Operates large and heavy duty equipment safely. Ensures drilling fluid circulation system is mixed and maintained when drill rig helpers conduct mud rotary or coring operations. Acts as Driller on site when directed by the supervisor and or lead driller. Directs and assists in setting up drill rig and the drilling process to include all activities and tasks involved. Deeper holes may be drilled under the guidance of a lead driller. Uses all types of drilling bits determined by geologic settings. Constructs borehole in a variety of methods and uses RDP standard procedures. Determine proper drilling methods depending on project goals, geology, hydrology and equipment available. Serves as journeyman role and aids the lead driller in all aspects of drilling and construction. Lead and train others and performs well in a team setting. Additional Requirements of the Job:
Must operate a government vehicle as an incidental driver. Work days are typically 12 hour shifts in strenuous conditions and extreme weather. Lifting objects up to 100 lbs will be required. Climbing and working at heights 30' to 40' feet above ground will be required. Physical Effort:
Strenuous effort is required in manipulating and maintaining equipment. Extreme physical exertion is occasionally demanded to effectively carry out all functions of the job. Work includes twisting two-hundred pound drill rods in and out of the drill hole for extended periods, shoveling dirt or mud from the immediate drilling area, and moving heavy and awkward equipment in the drilling area. These objects frequently weigh up to 150 lbs. Physical strength, endurance, and dexterity of all limbs is required. Working Conditions:
Work on sites requires the wearing of protective gear against possible exposure to chemical hazards. Use of specified personal protective equipment is mandatory. There are currently two vacancies to be filled; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the basic work of the position without more than normal supervision through experience shown in the written resume and responses to the job related task statements in this announcement. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
