Lead Health Aid
This position is assigned to the Medical Center Complex and outreaching PCCs and CBOCs located in Las Vegas, Laughlin, and Pahrump. Applicants selected for these positions will serve as a lead to a team that will primarily perform COVID-19 screening for incoming employees, patients and visitors prior to entry into the facility. The screening process includes administering a symptom questionnaire to gauge symptoms as well as checking body temperature Major duties to include the following, but not limited to:
Lead a team of Health Aids to perform clinical and administrative duties involved with COVID-19 screening. Supervise the administration of a symptom questionnaire to gauge symptoms of Veterans and employees upon entrance to VA facilities. Supervise the checking of body temperature of Veterans and employees entering VA facilities. Report team accomplishments and progress either verbally or by written reports. Distribute and balance workload of assigned Health Aids. The incumbent performs as a lead screening technician overseeing the workload and work output of screening technicians at the GS-3 levels. Travel is requiredto sites within the VASNHS (i.e., Northeast VA Clinic, Northwest VA Clinic, Southeast VA Clinic, Southwest VA Clinic, Pahrump VA Clinic, and MCPO Jesse Dean VA Clinic (Laughlin) Clinic). Duties require extensive periods of standing and walking. Working with residents requires regular and recurring bending, lifting, reaching, carrying, stooping, stretching and similar activities. GENERAL
Experience:
Your resume must demonstrate at least six months of general experience such as progressively responsible clerical office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the GS-04 position to be filled and at least six months of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-03 level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
This definition of specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements. Examples of specialized experience would be:
Customer Service, positions that require attention to detail, and ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Education:
Two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position, such as, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medical technology, pharmacy, or medical billing and coding. OR Combination of Education and
Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements:
Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level and must submit their most recent SF 50.
