Description of job:
The Nuclear Nonproliferation Division (NND) is a division operating within the National Security Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The NND performs research and development to detect, characterize, and monitor nuclear fuel cycle activities and nuclear explosions; develops concepts, approaches, and technologies to strengthen global security for nuclear and radiological material; and engages with federal agencies to enhance international nonproliferation regimes.

The Material Security and Stewardship (MSS) group within the NND at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks applications for a Nuclear Nonproliferation Technical Specialist TP03. The candidate will serve as a technical expert in nuclear material processes and special nuclear material attractiveness. The candidate will support (NNSA) and other government agencies in analysis of all source documents for nonproliferation considerations. The candidate will be responsible for preparing technical analysis reports.

Job Duties and
Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical analysis related to proliferation risk of nuclear processes and special nuclear material attractiveness.
  • Interact with sponsors to communicate project status and progress towards milestones and deliverables.
  • Collaborate across divisions and directorates with researchers and engineers to execute excising NNSA programs.
  • Collaborate with nonproliferation experts across the national laboratory complex to propose and execute R&D and build capabilities.
  • Occasional travel to support domestic and international engagements related to work scope.
  • Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health and quality program requirements.
  • Maintain strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics.

Qualifications Required:

  • B.S. with a minimum of 7 years experience with nuclear fuel cycle/nonproliferation related programs.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop technical reports assessing nuclear processes.
  • Expertise in nonproliferation technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of the nonproliferation mission scope of US government agencies.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
