Overview Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)PRN, Days (flexible schedule)PAM Specialty Hospital of Las VegasThe Occupational Therapy Assistant, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, is responsible for direct patient care, planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy in the Post Acute Medical system.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant/Licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant must be flexible to meet the needs of the system within many different facilities.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Responsibilities o Executes appropriate treatment plans for patients, as recommended by the occupational therapist.
o Demonstrates competency in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and practices.
o Instructs patients in equipment use per physical therapist's recommendations.
o Identifies and implements appropriate patient/family education in consultation with physical therapist.
o Completes accurate records to ensure correct documentation (i.
e.
, charge sheets, treatment records, medical record documents) in an appropriate timeframe and in accordance with Post Acute's policies and procedures.
Assures the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of charge capture per system, hospital or clinic, and department policies and procedures.
o Completes accurate and timely reports for any unusual occurrences which occur to patients, visitors, staff, or self, and actively uses safety measures to prevent avoidable injuries.
o Communicates patient status at care conferences.
o Assists and collaborates with the medical director, physician or consultants and other staff members of the rehabilitation team in circumstances where joint efforts are necessary.
o Participates in staff meetings.
o Participates in inservices to disseminate professional and/or administrative knowledge and/or policies.
o Assists with the maintenance of hospital or clinic equipment; reporting need for repairs and replacements when necessary.
o Participates in specialized training for program development when requested by Director.
Qualifications Education and Training:
Licensed as OTA in the state where the hospital or clinic resides.
Current BLS certification required.
Experience:
One year of clinical experience preferred.

o Verbal ability to facilitate communication with professional medical staff, patients and their families, and the public.
o Numerical ability to understand clinical data.
o Acts in accordance with a well-developed sense of professional and ethical values.
o Needs good motor coordination to handle patients and equipment safely.
o Able to function in repetitive and/or changing tasks with ease.
o Able to work and reason independently, logically, impartially and accurately.
o Able to provide leadership and direction within her/his duties for the optimal functioning of the team.
o Able to accept and utilize advice and constructive criticism.
o Openness and willingness to modify work style in order to meet patient and hospital or clinic needs.
o Willingness to assume more responsibility.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
